and 表示“和”，用在肯定句中，連接兩個(gè)并列得部分
I have a brother and a sister. 我有一個(gè)哥哥和一個(gè)姐姐。
I have two pens and three rubbers. 我有兩支鋼筆和三塊橡皮。
or 1. 表示“也不，也沒(méi)有”，用在否定句中（否定句：含有not或no得句子）
I have no brothers or sisters.
我沒(méi)有哥哥也沒(méi)有姐姐。
There is not a pen or a rubber in the pencil case.
在文具盒里沒(méi)有鋼筆也沒(méi)有橡皮。
A horse can’t swim or fly.
馬不會(huì)游泳也不會(huì)飛。

but 表示“但是”，用來(lái)表達(dá)轉(zhuǎn)折得意思

A sheep can run, but it can’t talk. 綿羊會(huì)跑，但是不會(huì)說(shuō)話。
She can’t dance, but she can sing. 她不會(huì)跳舞，但是她會(huì)唱歌。
